Germany celebrates fall of Berlin Wall. 2009 marks the 20th anniversary of the night the ‘Wall of Shame’ came down. The border that separated East and West Berlin from 1961 until 1989 is no more,  and a massive crowd celebrated anniversary of Berlin Wall’s fall yesterday.

Angela Merkel, Germany’s first chancellor, former Polish president Lech Walesa, former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and many others crossed a former fortified border crossing point between East and West Berlin.

Massive dominoes of plastic foam painted by German students have been placed along the former path of the wall that divided the city have been toppled as part of the anniversary celebrations. See the fall in action with the video below.
