Since December 2, a member of the Sama Team is supporting the EHHR Barefoot Campaign by wearing one pair of shoes every day for a month. First week was all about snow, last week it was about freezing and a homeless man. This third week is about Christmas.

“My third week wearing the same pair of shoes has ended. And like the first two weeks, it has been a real challenge. I wish the weather was not so cold it would make this challenge much easier, but if it were, maybe I wouldn’t have realized how hard it can be to always wear the same shoes.

Today is Christmas, many people around the world are celebrating. I think it’s the perfect time to have a thought about people who can’t celebrate. The ones who will not get any present. I can complain about my uncomfortable dirty leather boots but as you know, many people can’t even afford to buy one pair of shoes. Some others can’t even eat enough, drink clean water… I knew that already but the fact I decided to support the EHHR Barefoot Campaign this year, everyday for three weeks now I experience a small glimpse at what it is to not wear what would fit me better. I decided to but so many people didn’t decide, they don’t have much choice and endure everything.

I will have to wear my boots one more week but I can already tell you this experience changed me a lot. I hope you all have a merry Christmas. And I wish I could send more than wishes to the ones in need…”
