Keith Haring’s 1985 Mural at Deitch Projects

In 1985, Keith Haring painted a 70-foot-long mural for the South of Market Childcare Center (SOMACC) in San Francisco. Today the wall is exposed at Deitch Projects (18 Wooster Street, New York), until February 16, 2010. Keith Haring is unquestionably one of the most iconic artists of the 20th century, mixing Abstract Expressionism and Pop in a very unique way.   Information about the exhibition at Deitch Projects (visit website):   Deitch Projects ...

Twitter Sunday: Fav. Tweets @PRINCE_OFFICIAL

For this new Twitter Sunday rendezvous, we will share with you the tweets from a great singer. His name is Prince Rogers Nelson, a.k.a Prince. We were very happy to follow him when he started to tweet a few days ago but the pleasure didn’t last very long… Instead of interesting tweets about his work or even his daily life, we got hundreds of tweets and retweets polluting our Twitter page,  messing with all the others tweets we were ...

Saji Magazine: food, art, fashion and recipes

If you are a regular reader of The Sama Gazette (aka a Sama-Reader), then you probably already know the Sama Epicurean Fraternal Society.  It has been a while since we first mentioned it on the Gazette and many of you are very interested in the idea of a Sama Epicurean Fraternal Society. We also are. And we are working on it, as the information already leaked from a careless but still beloved Sama Team member (it starts with an ...

Charlotte Gainsbourg and Beck together on ‘IRM’

Charlotte Gainsbourg doesn’t sing, she whispers. A barely audible hiss, a style pioneered by her father, the great Serge Gainsbourg. But with her new album comes a new voice, Charlotte’s voice. We can hear it. Finally. And appreciate it. It’s soft, and yet it carries a strong feeling. With ‘IRM’ (the French equivalent of “MRI” an acronym for magnetic resonance imaging), produced by Beck who also wrote most of the ...

‘Rendezvous’: Claude Lelouch’s insane sprint across Paris

Today is Friday, some of us have already left the office and when we read Max Dana‘s latest post published on her blog yesterday, we thought it would make a perfect Friday update. Max talks about a great short movie directed by Claude Lelouch in 1976. And we agree, if you have never seen it before, go buy or rent the DVD!   “How did I forget to mention ‘Rendezvous’? I enjoy gun scenes in movies (From Scarface to Smokin’ Aces: the art ...

IXIA: nature, whimsically re-arranged

Working with Max Dana for quite a long time now, we are used to discover almost everyday, the many aspects of the World of Sama and the creative world of our beloved artist. We appreciate creativity whatever the form is can take and recently, we were very impressed by the amazing work done by the San Francisco based company, IXIA. ‘Nature, re-arranged’ that’s it.   Read ‘About IXIA’ from their Website:   Walk into IXIA ...

Haiti: compassion, communication, occupation, education?

Last week, we posted an article: Haiti: International Aid Mobilization On The Way. Like everyone, we wanted to react about the earthquake that devastated Haiti and express our compassion and our solidarity with the Haitians. There is not one day we do not talk about it and yesterday, Max Dana published on her Blog titled: ‘Haiti: compassion, communication, occupation… Education?’.   This article is worth to read if you want to go ...

iVictrola, iPhone Phonograph by Matt Richmond

We were browsing the Internet (not that our daily job exclusively constists in browsing the Internet but we actually spend a lot of time browsing the Internet…), and the iVictrola – iPhone Phonograph caught our attention for many reasons. The first one is because the design looks a lot like one of the Sama sculpture produced last year by Max Dana. The second reason is because the ‘concept’ is close to one Max is currently working ...
