In 2010, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art marks its 75th year as a pioneering force in art, locally and globally. Founded in 1935, SFMOMA was the first museum on the West Coast devoted to modern and contemporary art. The museum invites you to join them for a once-in-a-lifetime gala celebration in honor of 75 years of groundbreaking art.
About the event:
To celebrate our anniversary, we present a series of exhibitions and events that illustrates the stories of the artists, collectors, cultural visionaries, and community leaders who founded, built, and have animated the museum. A suite of exhibitions highlights the unique strengths of SFMOMA’s collection and moments when the museum broke new ground, expanding the conventional wisdom of what an art museum should present and collect […] On May 14, artists, patrons, and art enthusiasts will come together to enjoy a special evening of creativity and music, while raising funds for SFMOMA’s education and exhibition programs. The evening features a special dinner on the top floor of the museum, followed by a spectacular, music-filled after-party on the ground floor.
The Birthday Party Rooftop Dinner brings together distinguished donors, collectors, and special-guest artists for a fabulous dinner party. Birthday bash will start at 9:00 p.m. until midnight Featuring Brazilian Girls. Birthday Bash tickets available online (surcharge applies) or at the museum (no surcharge). Entry to the Birthday Bash is included for guests of the Birthday Party Rooftop Dinner. Individual ticket prices: $150 general / $125 SFMOMA members.
Visit SFMOMA website for more information about the event and all the exhibitions. You can also follow SFMOMA on Twitter @SFMOMA. We wish we were living closer to downtown San Francisco (San Francisco Street Art Mecca to be demolished, Keith Haring’s 1985 Mural at Deitch Projects, IXIA: nature, whimsically re-arranged…).
